Module Gain Risk Reference

Modules sorted by how aggressively they push signal levels. Higher risk means more attenuation is needed downstream.

TX-6 Input Setup

Step-by-Step

  1. Start with TX-6 input gain at minimum (fully counter-clockwise)
  2. Send a signal from STMix at your intended performance level
  3. Slowly increase TX-6 input gain while watching the screen meters
  4. Target meters peaking around 70–80% of full scale on loudest transients
  5. Note the knob position — it will be roughly the same for future sessions
🔴 Critical Rule

Capture first, optimize later. A slightly hot or quiet recording is fixable in post. A lost moment is not. If peaks are below 0 dBFS, press record.

Session Checklist

Before Patching

  • ☐ Patch O'Tool+ to STMix output (permanent monitor)
  • ☐ Set all STMix channel faders to minimum
  • ☐ Set TX-6 input gain to default position
  • ☐ Confirm DAW receives TX-6 USB signal

While Patching

  • ☐ Route through Quad VCA before STMix
  • ☐ Pre-attenuate when using Plasma Drive, A-136, or DFAM
  • ☐ Check O'Tool+ after adding each element
  • ☐ Bring up STMix faders gradually
